ATTENTION! The Emmy's are being held on August 25th, 2014!
For those of you who are not yet familiar with the nominations for my favorite category, Outstanding Costumes for a Series, let me inform you:
Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and Once Upon a Time.
I don't watch very much television, but I am a huge fan of Once Upon a Time and Downton Abbey. I haven't watched too much Mad Men because of all the sexual content, but I am absolutely in love with the costumes.
So, to celebrate, I am going to dedicate my blogposts leading up to the Emmy's to the brilliant costume creations for these television shows. The costuming departments for these television shows have to be creative when working in mythical worlds and different time eras. The creations have to look authentic for the time period, yet still feel relevant to audiences today. It truly is an art form.
I know that the Emmy's aren't directly related to Hollywood's Golden Age, which is normally what I post about. I'm so in love with the elegance and art of the old designers and movie stars. But I also believe that it is important to recognize the work and the art taking place in today's time. Hollywood is so influential on the world. There is some beautiful work being done there, too.
So let me share some of my favorite costumes with you! I'm going to start with my favorite show, Once Upon a Time:
Which do you prefer- the costumes from Storybrooke or the ones from the Enchanted Forest?
Personally, I love both of them! I can't decide. The costumes that the characters wear when they are in this world are still trendy, yet classic. I especially love Snow's and Belle's outfits. They fit the characters very well. Then the fantasy costumes are beautiful too. I don't know which world I prefer!
xoxo Miranda
