Oscar de la Renta was born in 1932 in the Dominican Republic. His company was established in 1965. In 1967 and 1968, he served as the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He created the CFDA awards, placing the fashion community in charge of their own awards, as opposed to being sponsored.
Oscar de la Renta received the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990. In 1993, he became the first American to design for a French Couture House. He also dressed Jackie Kennedy.
His current company has a full line of women's accessories, bridal, home products, beauty, children's wear, and a ready to wear line.
I've gathered some of my favorite images of him and his work.

He is a legend. He will be missed.
