Elizabeth Taylor in Taming of the Shrew, 1967

I just saw Taming of the Shrew this past week. It was so good, you guys! Even if you don't like Shakespeare, I would recommend it. Elizabeth Taylor is a fantastic actress. Richard Burton is a great actor, too. You can't beat the classic Elizabeth and Richard chemistry.

The premise of the play is this: Elizabeth plays this crazy sister that nobody will marry because she's super mean, but her really pretty little sister has lots of suitors. Their father won't let the little sister get married until Catherine, (Elizabeth), is married, so he has to find a suitor for her. Turns out their father is very wealthy, and an ambitious young man rises to the challenge to "tame" her. This is the part where it gets a little iffy, because he basically is pretty mean to her to make her submissive. It works though, because at the end of the movie, the sister has her own wedding and everyone comes back to see how Catherine is doing. The men have a contest to see who the most obedient wife is, and  Catherine wins as the most obedient wife.

Okay, I promise it is way better than that. Shakespeare wrote it. Just go watch it.

I was trying to play off the vibrant colors of Elizabeth Taylor's costumes in the play. I also like her messy curly hair.

In other news, I just went to Salt Lake this weekend and I think I'm in love. I've never had this feeling before!

Okay, okay, I know, what you're saying. I know. "Miranda, you said you would never move to Utah ever. I remember your tone!"

I know. And I have been sufficiently humbled. Although I don't see myself ever moving anywhere other than Salt Lake. The city is so beautiful. I've been there before, but I didn't really see the potential before. It's such a beautiful city. Most cities are kind of dirty and scary. Salt Lake is still kind of scary but it's so CLEAN. And the City Creek Mall is right next to the temple. And you can see the Capitol Building right on top of the hill! It is so pretty.

In other news, Fashion Week is this way! Stay tuned for a review from yours truly :)

Also, I am currently obsessed with this Blossom Dearie. I'm listening to this song right now.
